Autism Smiles School

We are serving several areas for the school and starting to work with other public schools to help the children with disabilities make it through school or our private school we are in the process of revamping adding a whole new curriculum that offers way more than the one we have now and also we are taking enrollments we are doing demonstrations over the computer how our programs work and what they offer we can provide you info below here about the program and how it works for your children

Info about curriculum below here and there are some images you may see that are not in the demo when you do that with us

Learning System is the ONLY online, dynamic, standards-based curriculum specifically designed for special learners. Subscribers download monthly instructional thematic units of study. Each unit contains 30 lesson plans and down loadable materials that teachers can readily implement into classroom learning activities. All materials are created using Symbolist graphics. The unit lesson plans define three levels of differentiated tasks to accommodate the diversity of learners with significant disabilities.

Stepping Stones Reading

Maps 1 to 4 - Starting Out in The Zoo

Step 1 - Starting Out in the Zoo is aimed at 4 - 6 year old who have little or no reading skills. This is where all children can begin to learn to read. By completing the 40 lessons in the Starting Out set, children will learn their first reading skills. This includes learning the sounds and names of the alphabet letters, reading their first sight words, such as the, I, and, is and see. They will also learn the essential phonic skills needed to read three letter words such as cat, fan and Sam. Children will then be able to read their first simple stories featuring Sam the ant.

Maps 5 to 8 - Beginning to Read in The Playground

Step 2 - Beginning to Read in the Playground - builds on skills learned in Step 1 with a focus on short vowel words such as cat, dog, ten, fish and duck and on building reading skills. Children will learn many more high frequency sight words, build word families and read another 40 books. Some of these books will be nonfiction titles with a focus on building vocabulary in these areas - numbers, facial features, and animals as pets.

Maps 9 to 12 - Building Confidence at The Theme Park

Step 3 - Building Confidence at the Theme Park - covers long vowel words such as cake, kite, rain, cook, seat and cute. These new phonic patterns are introduced and reinforced so that children can read them fluently and spell them correctly. There is an increased focus on reading for meaning, comprehension and understanding longer words and sentences. Children read 40 new longer books. Some of these books will be nonfiction titles with a focus on building vocabulary in a variety of key areas.

Assists parents, teachers, school nurses, pediatricians, and child psychologists find and develop the islands of learning opportunities in children so that necessary knowledge gains can be realized. What lurks in the mind of young children can surprise you. Children are smarter than teachers and parents give them credit for.

Now, , the child and adult can grasp an understanding of what is going on in the child's mind. The key to this is to let the children interact with the program by themselves. Every click of the mouse is recorded automatically and student performance data can be accessed in real time.

Program Benefits

There are over 65,000 real world photos and videos used in. There is no need for the child to attempt to understand abstract or fantasy images that cannot be connected to the need for real world understanding. Children are evaluated on the kind of knowledge that they can see as being useful in their lives. New knowledge is filed into an existing framework based on previous experience. Being able to track a child's progress in real time (as shown in the charts) provides the necessary information to manage the process of recovery.

 Helps:

There is a general understanding that successful students tend to demonstrate a high degree of self-efficacy and are willing to take on challenging tasks based on their previous experiences with success. Successful students are intrinsically
motivated to succeed and they believe that the control they exercise over events in their lives is internally mediated.

Learner?s benefit from instruction in which they are motivated, feel that they exercise control over their learning experience and are accountable for their own learning outcomes. Our programs provide immediate feedback to the student and with every click of the mouse the children are made well aware of their performance and know what they must work on to improve.

How It Strengthens Auditory Processing

Uses online software to improve processing, working memory, attention and other cognitive and reading skills associated with auditory processing disorder (APD).  is the most widely used in-clinic APD software in North America, and is now offered to families at home by .

Our auditory processing disorder treatment

·         Most reading, and many learning issues, are caused by, often imperceptible, listening and language difficulties related to auditory processing delays

·         These auditory processing delays will respond to exercise -- this is brain plasticity

·         Fast was developed to address these underlying auditory processing difficulties

The Science That Makes Fast Work

Fast scientists reasoned that if they could improve the underlying processing that makes language muddy -- impacting listening in class, focus, and phonological awareness needed for reading -- they could dramatically change student lives.

The Pitching Machine
The concept is powerful, but simple: Slow language down for struggling learners, and then build to natural language speed in tiny, incremental steps, not unlike how a pitching machine starts off slowly for young baseball players.

Fast asks the student to make hundreds of sequencing and sound discrimination decisions in quick succession. It adds speed and complexity at the student's pace, eventually building to the language processing efficiency required for reading.

Brain Training
To further stimulate improvements, the software includes neither surprises designed to produce a neither spike in nor epinephrine, promoting brain growth. The exercises focus on memory, attention, processing and sequencing, creating new neural pathways, encouraging the brain to reorganize.

Every minute of computer time is productive, every minute working toward strengthening the all important language regions of the brain, required for reading, listening and focus.

Foundational Skills
Language, and therefore listening and reading, requires processing at up to 40 sounds a second. Many students are unable to develop this level of processing skill on their own, and yet, once they are at school it is all about instruction, working around processing and other delays. Fast meets this widespread need, to develop foundational processing skills.

Once mastered, these new language-based skills are used every day and so they endure.

Program Sequence

Fast is series of programs, done sequentially. The first programs work on the auditory processing difficulties, later programs fill in reading skill gaps and focus on comprehension. All children start at the same basic level, progressing only as they achieve proficiency.

Fast Language v2, Language to Reading v2, Literacy and Literacy Advanced are Fast programs that target the various aspects of auditory processing disorder and language -- sequencing, working memory, phonological awareness, selective attention, processing speed and accuracy -- as it relates to learning and reading.

There are five programs in the reading series, ranging from early reading, through to middle and high school level.

Fast Results
Fast has been the subject of intense peer scrutiny and review, including 700 white papers and research studies covering many thousands of students, making it far and away the most widely tested auditory processing program available. The overwhelming conclusion of these trials has been positive.

Our Service

Provides Fast software to students 5 years of age and older at home, with educator oversight. Our best results come from students? work 30 or 50 minutes a day, five days a week for 3-6 months.
How our service works

Fast Background

In 1997 The Scientific Learning Corporation introduced the Fast program after 4 years of development combining cognitive research and neuroscience, by several of the world's leading neuroscience and universities. Since its introduction there has been considerable interest in the program for auditory processing.
APD study results

Fast was designed to facilitate the development of a child's language skills which, when improved, make reading easier. It is based on the premise that the language delays and

auditory perceptual disabilities of many children stem from an auditory processing disorder, a slower rate of processing. When children process information at a slower rate they will miss certain acoustic cues and on a micro level may mishear individual words and confuse/interchange sounds within words.

Quick Facts About Fast
There are 75,000 children around the country working on the software right now, and one thousand who have already completed it. Over 30,000 of these students have been part of highly scrutinized scientific studies, and over 700 scientific articles have been written on the subject. Fast auditory processing empirical evidence -- in trials and studies -- confirms that the software is indeed able to boost learning and reading skills for the vast majority of students who follow the protocol.

Parents

I?m so impressed with the website, it has really captured Lucas imagination and he loves winning eggs to buy the games. It?s such a good program on many levels because not only is Lucas learning to read and recognize sounds, but he is also using mathematical skills to buy the games and work things out. Well done!!

Teachers

The program is colorful and bright and students love the characters and the songs. I like how children must attempt the task a few times to ensure mastery and that they have to follow the lessons in a sequence as other things are locked until they complete certain units. I like the test at the end of the map because this can show areas of student weakness. I like how the activities increase students mouse skills and students have improved over the period of using the program. Story factory is fabulous and many students have engaged with this. We received the books on trial and we bought them because the children were so excited and eager to read them! Anything that encourages this level of engagement with young readers is fabulous!!! The books are now part of our home reading program. We also have students with learning difficulties using it and they are able to complete activities on their own and they are enthusiastic about using it. They love the games, the songs, the characters? I could go on..

Special Needs

The price is incredible for the amount of content that you get and is honestly the best home school investment I have ever made.

has impacted my son like nothing else we have tried. He is severely delayed and I was told he would never go above a 2nd grade level. He needs much repetition and other phonics programs just move too fast, which leave us repeating the same lesson over and over. This drives us both to tears.

moves much more slowly and uses a multitude of games and activities to reinforce a concept and it is reviewed in subsequent lessons. My son is very motivated by earning the coins, the constant praise (i.e YIPPEE!!) but mostly by unlocking the creature inside of the eggs at the end of each lesson. He also likes that he unlocks a ?new world? every 10 lessons and I like that it doesn?t let you move into this new world until you pass a test.

We will gladly use this until my son is able to finish all of the levels.

Skelly

I just started homeschooling this year and was looking for a program for my 11 yr. old with special needs. He was not able to name most letters and could not read at all. A few weeks of reading eggs and he is really making progress. He LOVES the lessons and catchy tunes and seeing what is in the eggs. I would strongly recommend this program to anyone. We plan to keep it up and look forward to the progress continuing.

I would just like to say how wonderful this programmed is. My son has autism and has made more progress with this programmed than any other method we have employed at home and school so far. I think you should approach the autism societies across the world and promote  to them. I think they would find it invaluable. Thank you for helping my son to read in a most enjoyable manner. Annie

Hi my son is three and is speech delayed we were paying a high price for speech therapy and our son still can?t say may words. I purchased , brought a set of speakers and started lesson one. He is saying m and so is his little brother who is only 14 months. Not only that, we went shopping and he was pointing to or the m?s on the signs of shops. This is only after a week. We have as parents waited a long time for this and would like to say thank you. We are so overjoyed. He is also saying m words such as mouse. We did not hesitate to get the six month subscription. We will keep it going because we all have fun, and dad is getting some quality time with his boys as well. Thank you once again.Georgia

Thank you  for a brilliant program. My son is 9 years old with the reading ability of a 5 year old. I have purchased the book packs and the activity books and he is coming on well. He loves the website to the extent that he spends hours on it. Thank you for a wonderful program.

Michelle

Hi, What a wonderful program  has been for many of our students this year. I am confident in saying that  has been instrumental in teaching some of our students (who experience learning difficulties and intellectual disabilities) letter recognition and reading skills.

Laurie

Hi I am the Curriculum Co-coordinator at an independent school (just over 100 students) for children with Special Needs. I have just had a friend share with me your program and feel it would be excellent to use with our students in class. Our students all have an intellectual as well as other disabilities and I can see how well paced your program is with opportunity for plenty of practice. I

Hi My 5 year old son is addicted to . He is a bright boy who has a diagnosis of ADHD and ADD and until we found  was refusing to read anything. Within the last few weeks he has spent every spare minute on your programme and is now one of the best readers in his year at school. Thank you so much. Many thanks.

Claire

Thank you . My son is 3 and diagnosed with high functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder. He has a significant speech delay and is responding so well to your program because he loves books and computers. We are only up to level 9 and already Reilly is reading words and saying the words and letters as he reads them. The first thing Reilly says in the morning is ?put on autism smiles school  Mummy?.  is just what we have been searching for and has contributed to our son?s speech significantly!!!! You should consider marketing this for children with autism spectrum disorders.

Linda

My child has a significant language delay resulting in very poor expressive language. He was extremely behind his Yr 1 class when we moved from the country to Perth in June. Since doing autism smiles online school  he has learn all his letter sounds and has almost caught up with his class in the sight words. It has been great as he seems to learn easier from visual activities and the program has really given him more confidence. Thank you.
